[Fujiko is chilling out in what people might recognize as decorated pretty much like Lupin's apartment. She's singing softly to herself and tinkering with something strange, albeit mechanical.]

They tried to draft us

[She pauses and gives up on the song, focusing instead momentarily on snapping a spring into place, though this gets a quiet little "banzai!" of delight. Success; whatever it was.]

[Cute frown and a pout.] No wait, that line's terrible... [Sighs and runs a hand through her hair, then taps her little mechanics into device, which mostly just looks extremely dangerous and flashes knifes and other cutting utensils on swinging springs before she taps it it again with a pen to make it stop and settle down.]

Writing music is really hard. "But there ain't no cure --
For Luceti's Barrier Blues??" [She just shrugs.] Someone else should do this, it's too hard. Tell Elvis I quit. Anyone want to write a protest song? I am going to stick to making earrings.

[Earrings. Yes, apparently that death trap from hell she's playing with? It's an earring. Of course it is. Who wouldn't wear such death traps on their ears right next to their head and necks... it's so shiny. And then the other "earring" goes off and just starts smoking.] Uh-oh... guess I shouldn't have borrowed Lupin's gunpowder. [She's just gonna... try to blow that out.... yeah... be back shortly; experiencing technical difficulties and all that.]

I have two questions. The second one is of a hypothetical nature.

[Spock leans forward and places his arms on the table.]

Here is the first. What gives your life meaning?

[Meaning.... Does Fujiko's life have meaning? What is that meaning? Obtain everything she wants.]

Obtain everything I want so that I never need anything because if I do, I'll already have it.

[Spock raises an eyebrow briefly at that answer...no matter.]

Very well. The hypothetical question is thus...

Who is the one person, if met with mortality, that would render your life's meaning, meaningless.

[Spock continue to holds eye contact with Miss Fujiko, hoping that she sees the point...]

[Huff. Everyone's so determined to get her to say Lupin is, well joke's on them, she sees through this plot!] I mean. Myself... of course. [But that is why she is going to live forever if she has any say in it. It's hard work trying to find the secret of youth.]

[Spock nods and sits back in the chair with a half-smile.]

You sound unsure of your answer.

I'm not sure, really.

[A shrug.] Does it matter?

[Spock grins and stands like he is holding the world's greatest answer...and turns towards the stove..]

Shall I make you some tea Miss Fujiko? It has gotten quite cold of late, and I have found myself remiss of thermal wear....

If you're already making some, sure I'd love some.

[YOU ARE ANNOYING. (Fujiko thinks.) Setting her up and being secretive! Whatever Vulcan man, she is going to go back to working on her earring, and use that nail polish idea. Wee~! Actually it's cool! She prefers this. Because he was really dangerously in her head anyway and now she can give it space to work on her gameplan and make sure he doesn't suspect anything! Mwahahaha.]

[Spock wonders if Lupin informed Miss Fujiko what Vulcan's are capable of? It almost seems ironic to have a Vulcan living with two thieves...
He can tell that she is annoyed, and that she is still lying... most curious, and also a fascinating individual. He looks forward to learning more about her.]

[Spock sets the kettle on to boil...]

I am curious Miss Fujiko... what has Lupin informed you regarding my abilities?

He hasn't.

[He wouldn't need to. She vaguely remembers enough of the sixties that combined with her innate paranoia, knowing more could only make her more paranoid. She already thinks Luke is a mind-reader after all.]

[Spock tilts his head...fascinating...]

I find it interesting then that he did not inform you that a telepathic empath would be living in your apartment.

[Spock innocently reaches up into the cupboard and gets a pair of tea cups....He hopes he was not getting Lupin into trouble...]

[Practically hiccups. She's gonna kill Lupin, yup.]

[Spock pours the tea....]

Telepathic empath. I am Vulcan, and we have, through touch, the ability to read another's thoughts and feelings... but never without their consent, so please, do not worry. However... and empath has the ability to read the feelings of another. Though it is rather muted... I can essentially 'read' if a person is lying or not.

[Spock brings the cups of tea over to the table and sits next to Miss Fujiko once more.... placing a cup in front of her.]

[Through touch... right. She takes that tea... but she's not going to drink it. Nope.]

I see. It must really go into overdrive around me and Lupin, hm?

[Okay she is taking a sip of the tea.... but only because part of her is okay with it being poisoned. Good times.]

[Overdrive?]

I believe you are implying an access in activity? Negative. As I said, it is 'muted'.... Normally it would not be a factor due to my shielding... however, I have been experiencing issues with that recently.

[Spock bows his head to Miss Fujiko...] My apologies Miss Fujiko for causing you distress, I would never access your mind without permission. [Though he had already done that to Lupin.... he thinks wryly...]

[Waves a hand back and forth dismissively. Whether he can read her even without touch, it certainly won't make her any less paranoid. However, the facade that she is absolutely calm and has everything under control is back in play. How fitting then that the first mask of the evening comes back into play.]

You have shielding to protect yourself from it? What's wrong with it? The barrier here messes up some powers, could it be that?

[Now it was Spock's turn to be elusive....]

To some degree yes... However, there were... interfering events that caused my mental shields to shatter. Mister Lupin has been a great help to me in this area...

Lupin has?

[Don't mind her surprise.] How? [And her nosiness....]

[Green tinges Spock's cheeks... He does not know how to inform Miss Fujiko of the connection he shares with Lupin...]

There was an accident during the Shift... and my mind was left exposed.

[Spock's eyes were very interested in the table...]

I committed an unforgivable action against him... and he has taken it rather well. He has become like a brother to me.

Is he okay?

[Yeah sorry, she cares more about Lupin. No, wait. Not that she cares about Lupin or anything.]

He has informed me that he is well.... and he is not in any danger.

However, if you ask him, he may be more inclined to tell you how he... feels.

[Because Spock really does not now how to talk about feelings...]

But you used your truth-telling-thingy to make sure that wasn't a lie, right?

[Because, she knows Lupin. Of course he's going to say he's fine even if he's not. It's one of many hundreds of things that drives her absolutely nuts about him.]
