Intro the First

Well now, this whole teleporting thing isn't too bad. If only they could control it they'd make a fortune. Well, not really since "they" apparently don't believe in money. I've never heard of such a thing. So backwards. The idea that "they" could be more enlightented beyond the needs of money is just plain ludicrous. Oh well! They don't know what they're missing.

I haven't gotten to explore all of this place yet, so anyone wind up somewhere interesting from this? Come on! Share the juicy details please!

He takes a half-step back, a little stunned by that look she just gave him.] Uh...yeah, no problem.

Thanks! I'll owe you one! [Bounces on the balls of her feet.] Or we can call it even. Whichever. [Leads him towards the kitchen area with a crooked finger.] So supposedly these "experiments" happen often around here, that true, or is this your first time?

[Quick! Run Raph! She's getting into the talkative phase!]

[He wants to run but his feet won't move! And that stunned expression on his face only grows as she starts...bouncing. Somehow he finds himself herded to the kitchen, but he's not quite sure how he got there.]

No, I been here a long time.

[Slow down, Fujiko. He'll only answer one question at a time in his current, almost robotic state.]

How long is long? [Sits him at the table near the kitchen and goes to the fridge-thing.] You want a drink?

Nine months. An' I know better than to take a drink from a broad with daggers rigged in her walls.

[A light pout.] Now really! If I was going to poison you I could have just put it in the salve, and I wouldn't have take the trap off!

Besides I never use poisons, too many things that could go wrong. [Gets out a couple of beers anyway and nudges one towards him.] And much too many anti-poisons to keep track of.

[But beer he can't say no to. But he grabs the opposite one from what she'd been offering him. He doesn't say anything about the poison, though. He's a ninja, of course he uses it. It's just not something you get all buddy-buddy about.

He cracks open his beer, still eyeing her suspiciously.]

So. Raph~ Raphael~~ [Purring the name with her voice.] Work out in the dojo often?

Are you a swordsman? [So hoping not.]

[Screw the traps, he's going to die right here, right now. He feels his face growing hot again, and he tightens his grip on his beer, still yet to take a drink.]

Yeah. I...no. Primary weapon's the sai. [Hence the ones tucked in his belt.]

[He snorts]

Ain't a hobby, it's a necessity. Gotta know how to fight when everybody's tryin' to kill you.

[He raises the bottle to his lips, but only feigns a drink as he watches her expression. He still can't be too sure it's not poison.]

[Soft seductive smile.]

Well, I'm sure as you might guess from my apartment; I'm aware of how that is.

[He lowers the bottle again, frowning, not quiet glaring back at her.]

Why're you lookin' at me like that?

[He is genuinely confused by ALL of this shit.]

[Leans back with a slightly worried frown herself.]

Nothin'. [He lifts the bottle to his mouth again and takes a real drink this time.] Should probably disable your traps 'til the experiment's over. 'Least the ones who could hurt people. Not everybody's lucky enough to have a shell.

What do you care about them for? You're the one who thinks they want to kill you.

[Sighs and gets up, collecting assorted bear traps for now and closing them up. She already disable the dagger trap, and she hasn't been there a month to start actually screwing with the architectural design... yet.]

[He watches her go about her business leaning on the kitchen doorway, nursing his beer.] Ain't nobody tryin' to kill me here. And we got kids here who ain't immune to these stupid experiments.

So you're just keeping in practice? Mah, all right all right, I'm undoing them, geez.

[He smiles a little sideways smile at her relenting.] Got no excuse to get sloppy. Glad for it, too. Shipped me out to the war couple months ago.

War the Mallies are fightin' with the Third Party. Avians. They go for the wings. [He gestures over his shoulder at his scarred and tattered wing. At this point, he just might be boasting a little. Maybe.]

Why? [Unconsciously reaches for the PPK holsters.]

Your guess is as good as mine. [He takes another drink, nonchalant.] They like usin' us to do their dirty work.
