[Open-ish Log]

Who: Fujiko, Gokudera, possibly others who run into Fujiko (sub, Vongola, Roxas, or people with a reason to be there only please)
Where: Sub to Vongola.
What: Fujiko's smoking a cigarette and helping Gokudera who got his hand trapped.
When: After her date with Havoc, before picking up Lupin (Valentine's Night)
Why: She's emotional
Rating: PG-13 for language and Gokudera/Fujiko's respective tempers

Fujiko needed a cigarette break and now. The post was mortifying although she felt she was doing a decent job covering up the embarrassment. On the other hand, Havoc had managed to disarm all of the traps to her room, sneak in that morning and wake her up with a smile on his face. He'd gotten a boxing glove trap to the face for it, but when she realized it was Havoc and not Lupin they talked. She mentioned Lupin showing up at dinner and he hadn't been thrilled, but he wasn't saying much of what he thought of it.

She need a reality check. Her adopted little brother, however much he hated it. And that meant seeking out Gokudera. Where the hell was he anyway?

He's hiding in the kitchen, because he'd NEVER really hang their of his own will. No one would think to check there for him and he'd much prefer that. Gokudera doesn't want anyone to find him with the bottle snuggly fitted around his hand, grip on the Vongola's fifth ship tight so it can't be damaged by his flailing. His boss knows about it and is busy looking up cures, since they can't find much lubricant available on the ship.

He'd been busy gnawing on his lip while looking the other direction, but it seems his idea of 'I can't see you, you can't see me' isn't working. Gokudera visibly jumps at her words, face going red with irritation and embarrassment. "Shut up." The teen moves his trapped hand a little closer to his side so it isn't sticking out so obviously. "What does it look like?!" He growls, shoulders hunching defensively.

[identity profile] bakudan-shounen.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
The embarrassed blush seems to grow darker and he turns, tucking the bottle against his side and trying to block it from her prying eyes. "Knock it off, it's none of your business!" He's sure if he told her why, she'd be unable to keep her mouth shut about it.

"Who said I was going after the ship?!" He growls and gives her the purest look of irritation he can muster. "Anyways! Did you want something, or did you come here just to laugh?! Cause I really don't want to deal with it!"

Roxas stepped out into a hallway of the sub, the dark corridor he had just used closing in on itself. Taking down his hood, he studied his new surroundings for his next target. The Valentine deliveries were causing more of a challenge to deliver in person than just placing it in a room.

"Dark corridor," he says, pointing to the wall. His face is almost expressionless as he holds out the bag containing the Valentine in her direction. "Here. I'm making deliveries and this one's yours." At least he had found Fujiko faster than he had the last deliveries, but he still wasn't done.

He blinked at Fujiko for a moment; it seemed obvious that he forgot to read who the sender was before coming. Quickly shoving his hand inside the bag, Roxas removed a small red Valentine card. "'Good Luck'...From Akito." With the card slipped back into the bag, he gestured for Fujiko to take it while hoping to be on his way.

"Eieh heh heh, this laptop has a little camera on it."

Behind Fujiko Lupin had perched his lanky body on nearby rails, holding the laptop toward Fujiko with a long smile across his face. What a pretty dame she continued to be, especially on film. He lowered the computer and looked at her; it had been so long since he actually looked at her.

"Hello, Fujiko-chan."

He wasn't as top-form as he should be around her--dark crescent moons had started to form under his eyes from the slight fever his wounds had brought on, and there were two very messy rips through his jacket that revealed bandages underneath.

But he wasn't one to give up his charm just because of chicken scratch. Still, despite how much he slept on the raft, he was exhausted. His face was still pretty smooth, considering how hard it was for him to pop up a beard. Zenigata was far more suitable for a marooning than he was.

Lupin sat down--well, more like slumped, as seeing her and being injured all at once was really too much for his little ol' heart to take. He continued to smile like the impish wolf he kept at bay.

"Ah, I lied to you?"

He looked up toward the sky, a look of curiosity on his face. His memory was pretty hazy at the moment, though he recalled telling her about diamonds. His head snapped back toward her.

"Ah, right! The diamonds." He grabbed the end of his jacket and folded it inside out, letting random gems and jewels and trinkets clatter to the ground in a little sparkling pile. "They aren't as great as back home, but for pirates they did all right for themselves..."

He winked.

[Takes place the morning after.]

No more than five minutes after boarding the submarine - Yoshi shuffling after him - Goemon was already inquiring in a low voice as to where Lupin could be found, his brow furrowed with purposefulness and concern. His fist slackened and tightened restlessly around Zantetsuken, unconsciously, as he awaited a response.

Nodding wordlessly, Goemon followed her with little more to listen to than the hurried clack of stilettos and Yoshi noisily smacking on the biscuit and leaving a trail of crumbs, oblivious to the thickening tension in the air. Much was left unsaid between business partners; it was the way it had been for many years.

Concern manifested itself as a heavy, aching pressure in his chest, like a withheld breath. Lupin would be fine, the ronin reassured himself, squaring his shoulders; after all, his well-being was no longer in the hands of fortune, but in those of his friends.

“Mn.” Goemon murmured gravely in response. Not entirely knowing what to expect to see, he set foot into a room smelling of sleep and malaise, quietly approaching the bedside. "Lupin."

Lupin had been pillowed all the way up to the back of his neck and was for the most-part not feeling any of the pain he should have been. He'd been stripped down to his boxers and was lightly sheeted, though a fine layer of sweat glossed his cheek. A laptop was clutched under his fingertips, closed shut. Despite the obvious bandages around his torso he didn't look too bad. A step back from death than previously, at any rate.

Listless, unaware eyes caught sight of Goemon and regained some of their luster.

"Oi, Goemon..." he said in a dreamy voice, "Why do you have so many swords? I thought you only needed one...?"

In the light, Lupin’s skin gleamed with a pale, sickly sheen of sweat; Goemon saw the narrowing of the eyes, the gathering of the brows, the struggle to bring him into focus. Had he not been warned of Lupin's altered state of consciousness, he would have been perplexed and deeply troubled; it was distressing still, at a gut-level, to see a man of incredible genius with little presence of mind, almost child-like in his vulnerability.

“Sh.” He sharply, cut off his friend’s half-conscious slurring. “You must rest.” Discreetly taking a shallow breath, Goemon glanced back towards Fujiko, his gaze piercing as if with accusation. “Did you change his dressings?”

Lupin gazed over to the back of Goemon's head, a smile too soft for a Lupin crossing his lips, as though he were floating off somewhere else. "Goemon, be nice to Fujiko-chan... She's been taking good care of me..."

He looked at Fujiko. And then he looked at the Yoshi, shrugged, and pulled down his sheets. His barely-opened eyes strained to see the cloth rolled around his body. "These bandages are itchy, Fujiko-cha~n... Can I take them off now?" He fiddled with the silver clips, popping one to the floor.
