[Open-ish Log]

Who: Fujiko, Gokudera, possibly others who run into Fujiko (sub, Vongola, Roxas, or people with a reason to be there only please)
Where: Sub to Vongola.
What: Fujiko's smoking a cigarette and helping Gokudera who got his hand trapped.
When: After her date with Havoc, before picking up Lupin (Valentine's Night)
Why: She's emotional
Rating: PG-13 for language and Gokudera/Fujiko's respective tempers

Fujiko needed a cigarette break and now. The post was mortifying although she felt she was doing a decent job covering up the embarrassment. On the other hand, Havoc had managed to disarm all of the traps to her room, sneak in that morning and wake her up with a smile on his face. He'd gotten a boxing glove trap to the face for it, but when she realized it was Havoc and not Lupin they talked. She mentioned Lupin showing up at dinner and he hadn't been thrilled, but he wasn't saying much of what he thought of it.

She need a reality check. Her adopted little brother, however much he hated it. And that meant seeking out Gokudera. Where the hell was he anyway?

Fujiko stared at the bottle for a moment with a blank expression and then gave Gokudera a small smile. "Aww you're sweet sometimes kid," she grinned. She picked up the jar and looked around at it. "Hm. Normally I'd slip my fingers tie a string around the trunk and pull out my hand, THEN pull out the tree but if you do that you'll completely smash up the ship. I think she'll just have to get a different tree. In the meanwhile, water it, get sunlight and leave the jar unstoppered."

He frowns down at the ship and the tree he'd been so determined to bring his girlfriend. Gokudera reluctantly releases the tree, straightening out his fingers and trying to relax his hand now so she can help him with the lube. "I'll think of something..." He should be happy that he isn't destroying the ship and that he'll be free, but this whole incident has completely ruined his plans for the lover's holiday, and nothing will stop that cloud of disappointment hanging over him.

That look on his face was hearbreaking really. If she didn't adore Gokudera and Miranda so much she could have ignored it, and tried to focus on herself but... "Couldn't you get her a new one and put it in the greenhouse? The cloud kraken beat up the ones we used to have, but they have to come from somewhere, rght?" She carefully slipped the lube around his hand and the jar. "Pull," she commanded.

"But this one was special to her." He says and remembers stringing lights inside it to light it up. It was really beautiful at night and he won't admit that it reminded him of her every time he walked on deck to smoke. "It won't be the same." Gokudera does as he's told, eyebrows knitting tighter as he feels the pressure around his hand and it's almost painful. He stops for a moment, "Hold on to the jar. Tight." Like hell he's going to risk breaking it.

Fujiko held on tightly and sighed, "I can't get it separated from the deck Gokudera. Even if the ship was outside of the bottle, the tree was purposely rooted into the deck because of the size. Does the tree mean more than the ship?"

"I'll figure something out..." He says quietly and looks at her hands for a moment before starting to twist and pull his out. Gokudera's skin seems to catch on the sides of the jar, but the more he twists, the more the lube spreads and eases it up. Gritting his teeth, he gives a particularly sharp tug and goes flying back. A few steps later he's rubbing his wrist and frowning at the jar, trying to make sure everything is still intact.

Expecting the yank, Fujiko was just relieved the glass didn't wind up shattering from his strength. "Well," she sighed again, "Like I said. I can go in there easier than you. Smaller hands," she held them up. "And tie a string to pull it out. I could probably get a small enough knife and cut up enough of the deck, but it's still risky, I might cut some of the roots or the ship." She glanced at him and set the jar on the table to look inside it and then back at Gokudera. "You okay?"

He walks up and takes the ship from the table, "No! I can figure something out!" The teen clearly wants to take full responsibility for all of it, even if he fails. "There's got to be another way..."

"Fine," Fujiko rolled her eyes, "Just don't stick your hand in there again. This stuff isn't that easy to come by that I want to waste it." She slipped out a cigarette and stuck it between her teeth. "Cigarette break?" she pleaded softly, virtually begging.

He looks around and grabs a small piece of paper, scribbling 'IF YOU BREAK THIS, I WILL KILL YOU. -G.' and turns back to face her after setting it down. "Yeah okay." Gokudera gives the bottle a parting glance and flexes his free fingers while he walks over to her.

"Lupin showed up," Fujiko explained simply as they walked outside. "After a fucking year, now of all times. Now he's here."

"Isn't every time a bad time?" He asks as he takes out a cigarette, packing it down before lighting it. From all she's said about the guy from her world, he always causes nothing but trouble. Gokudera makes a note to himself that he should keep his replies small to prevent from provoking her further. The last thing he wants is for her to talk his ears off.

"Now is worse," Fujiko sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. "A month ago, a couple months ago, a year ago, even just a few weeks ago I could have dealt with him. But now..." She trailed off into a sigh. "Miranda says I should just keep away from him, but I can't leave him stranded. And Havoc..." she trailed off again, feeling miserable and curled up in a tiny ball.

He sits down beside her, giving her an unsure look. Gokudera isn't entirely sure what she's talking about. What does Havoc have to do with this? "What's so bad about now?" Gokudera asks and has a feeling he might regret wanting to know. Heck, it's not like he really WANTS to know.

"After that Maple Island thing... I mean I know it wasn't real, that the memories weren't real, but I wasn't in love with the memories, I was in love with him. So I thought I'd find out how much was really him, or just the island fucking with my head. I only just made up my mind to get over Lupin and THEN he shows up. Is that fate fucking with me or what?" she growled over the cigarette in her teeth.

"If you're so over him, then why is this bothering you so much?" Gokudera is a believer that if she sets her mind to something, everything else will follow. Then again, he's pretty sure he hates fate for having his sister show up JUST to ruin his mood.

Fujiko curled up in a tiny ball, almost wanting to cry. "Because I'm not yet. Obviously. I don't know if I ever will be. I've tried a ton of times."

"Then chose between them. Seems to me you've been hooked by that Lupin guy far longer than your imaginary husband. If he doesn't make you happy, though, then just stay single. Maybe the one who wants you more will go after you. If neither of them do, then it isn't really worth it." Gokudera says and closes his eyes as he inhales as much nicotine as he can manage. Why are women so set on making things complicated?

She peeked out from her arms and poked Gokudera's arm softly, "Thanks." It sounded right. Mostly she just wanted to run away from Lupin and leave someone else to handle him. She couldn't just forget him and she got weak whenever he was around but if she avoided him then there'd be nothing to get weak to. Havoc already said he'd come after her and had done so and Lupin...

Was there really much point to hoping things would ever improve between them? It was part of the curse. Their timing was abysmal. If she was up, he was down. And it was Lupin, he was never going to change. "Once a wolf, always a wolf," she muttered. It wasn't always bad, but it wasn't smething to brag about either.

He offers her a small galnce and nods before speaking again. "You're not the only person looking for him, though, right?" He asks, wanting her to think that she doesn't have to be the one responsible for Lupin. If he's a real man, he can figure things out on his own. Then again, if there's anything Gokudera has learned by working next to his boss, it's that they have alliances everywhere and are never truly alone.

"Yeah. Zenigata probably still wants to arrest him... I'm thinking I'll run off and talk to him. And Goemon I'm picking up tomorrow when his contract ends," Fujiko nodded with a distant look. "I wonder if Jigen..." she didn't really want Jigen around. Oh well.

He doesn't really know much about Jigen besides the fact that to her, they're pretty similar. "So Goemon is joining your crew? I thought he was one of Lupin's friends?" Gokudera raises an eyebrow at her while he flicks the ash off the end of his cigarette.

"What? Hah. Goemon hates working with me. Even if Lupin asks him to. No. I'm just picking him up because I'm getting Lupin. He can deal with Lupin and then they'll probably go off somewhere like always. And I think... I'll just go find Havoc," she swallowed. "If nothing else, I wanna talk to Pops so..."

"Hm." He's getting the feeling that he's going to be stuck driving the submarine around in her absence. It's not like that's such a bad job. In fact, it shows off the level of responsibility he's able to handle to the Tenth. In a way, since they're both driving side by side, he feels even closer than when he spent most of his time on the ship! Just this thought alone seems to perk Gokudera up a great deal, "Just do what you want. To hell with those other guys."

A giant grin split on Fujiko's face, "Thanks!" she purred. Even if that was what she usually did, she was second-guessing herself. Having someone tell her to follow her instincts was really quite nice. Definitely made all these cigarette breaks they shared worthwhile.
