OOC: Log of Fujiko & Yamamoto
Who: Fujiko & Yamamoto
When: Wendesday Night
Where: SDC Rec Room
Why: He has to talk about Gokudera
Warnings: Fft none. It's PG if that.
The tall, tanned teenager walked into the recreation room, his brown eyes searching the room. His face--forever a window to his heart--brightened as he caught sight of the person for which he was searching. "Fujiko," he said cheerfully, waving a hand as he approached the beautiful woman.
Fujiko looked up from her notes: the list of slavers from Smoker for Jyabura and blinked in surprise but recovered quickly smiling, echoing Yamamoto's cheerfulness. "Hello," she greeted, straightening slightly and gesturing him to take a seat. "You on the sub for any particular reason? Something I can help with perhaps?" She said the last part in a coy teasing voice since she couldn't see anyone else he'd want to find on the sub.
"I did! I came to see you," Yamamoto, always straightforward, stated his exact reasons. "I was hoping you might be able to help me out a bit... I'd love to make you some sushi so we'd have something to snack on while we talked."
Fujiko's ears perked, "If you wish." She wasn't hungry and others preparing food for her made her nervous. Particularly something as easy to poison unnoticed as sushi. She stood up, adjusting the Thompsons under her skirt and shut off the laptop putting the usual locks on the files. "What is the problem?" she asked nervously, "Or do you wish me to wait before telling?" She could smell a trap a mile away but nothing was jumping out at her yet.
"We can talk first, or if you're not hungry we can pass on the sushi... I don't know where your guys' kitchen is really anyway," he laughed.
"Are you hungry?" she evaded answering. "I could lead you to it of course. Your choice." She tapped a finger to her chin. He seemed almost apprehensive.
Yamamoto shrugged. The answer was yes, but he was a teenaged boy, and, consequently, was almost perpetually hungry.
"We can go to the kitchen to talk if you like. But it'll probably be a lot more busy. We have a real cook now and Toboe's on a diet so he keeps trying to get everyone to feet him," she grinned. "Avoiding sad wolf eyes is harder than it sounds."
"Hahaha, I can imagine," Yamamoto chuckled and sat down beside her. "Let's talk here, then. I'd rather keep this a little private."
"You got it kid." Fujiko put her hands back behind her head. "What's up?" A small pause and ever to the point she asked, "This about Gokudera, Reborn, Tsuna, or something else?"
"Was it that obvious?" the swordsman's smile tilted in an embarrassed way. "Gokudera."
Fujiko glanced sideways at him and gave a small sigh. Suddenly she wanted a cigarette. Maybe she'd spent too much time smoking with the grey-haired bomb-obsessed kid. "I wouldn't say obvious but with Squalo gone off to Italy's ship and then who knows where..." she left it hanging. "Plus... no offense but, he's got something of a temper. Easy to rile up. Reminds me of Jigen but still a lot nicer. Gokudera I mean." She added the last part though it was probably unnecessary.
"Erm," Yamamoto decided not to say that he had no idea who Jigen was, and instead settled on what he'd come to say, "Yes, I know that. I can deal with that. I've been putting up with it since I met him... but... I just was wondering if there was a way to tell when he was actually mad and when he's just being... well, Gokudera."
A small sigh and Fujiko rubbed the back of her neck with a hand. "I think you can pretty much safely assume he's always being that ... Gokudera-y. Is it any more intense than usual?" Usually once she fit someone into an analogy she had them pretty much pieced out. And Gokudera certain was like a much nicer Jigen. That still meant he acted like a grumpy jerk most of the time.
"Sort of," the Rain Guardian placed his hand behind his head and scratching his neck, "I just get the feeling I've done something to upset him, but he won't tell me what it is. Fujiko, how am I supposed to fix anything if he won't tell me? I'd try to fix a problem if he let me know what it was."
Mulling it over for a second she tapped a finger to her chin again. "Sounds like he's jealous. He got kind of riled up when you offered me a ride. Anyone else you've been ah..." there was no easy way to say 'not actually flirting with but easily construed that way to the delusional Gokudera' "Paying more attention to than usual?"
"But you two are pals, why would he get upset over that?" Yamamoto asked, blinking cluelessly. "Not that I know of, really. I offered people rides, but that was as compensation for Kojirou and Jirou's mischief."
Fujiko sighed. "Not just rides. In any way really." She couldn't tell Yamamoto that Gokudera liked him enough to be easily jealous the way she used to be (maybe ever so secretly still was) over Lupin and still was over Jyabura. It was Gokudera's place to explain it. "He's... well you know. Grumpy." At best. "He takes any perceived slight to kind of heavy degrees."
"In any way?" the young swordsman ran a hand through his spiky black hair. "... I don't know, I think I've been acting normally. Miranda and I talk about pokemon a lot but that seems like the only recent change."
If anything it looked more like Gokudera was getting close to Miranda than the other way around. Fujiko leaned back again. "Something with Tsuna maybe?" A small sigh, "He hasn't mentioned a lot recently." And she'd been distracted lately thanks to sub problems.
"Maybe? But I talked to Tsuna," Yamamoto explained, "without mentioning Gokudera, I told Tsuna I fancied another guy, and Tsuna was fine with it, so I figure Gokudera wouldn't be all upset about me flirting with him around Tsuna anymore." He paused thoughtfully, "I've still tried not to, since he mentioned it bugged him, though."
She blinked at that. Quite a bit. "You told Tsuna you liked someone else... Does Gokudera KNOW you were talking about him? Let's say for a second that Gokudera only got that part. That you liked a random nameless guy. Wouldn't that make you jealous if it was vice versa?" Fujiko shook her head. Boys. "I don't think his not wanting you to flirt with him in front of Tsuna so much was that he's just... REALLY private about this kind of shit. I mean I don't think he's told anyone else that he's been seeing you and I'm fairly certain he only admitted it to me to get me off his back."
"No, the whole reason I didn't mention Gokudera was because Gokudera didn't want Tsuna knowing!" Yamamoto said. "But I was talking about liking Gokudera! Gokudera could figure that out!"
"Maybe." Fujiko rubbed the back of her neck again uncertainly, "... Are you sure about that?" she hesitated. "I do think he's being jealous. But I've been wrong about things a lot."
"I'm sure," the teenager said steadfastly. "... but then... that leaves me back where I started. How did I upset him?" Yamamoto placed his hands over his face, leaning back with an exasperated sigh. "Maybe I should try talking to him again..."
"Hn," she grunted, thinking fast. "But he's not talking? Maybe try again and if that doesn't work, give him some space before trying a third time." She sighed.
"Well, I don't bug him when he's hiding in the cargo hold," Yamamoto dropped his hands away from his face and glanced sideways. "I know he doesn't think I know where he goes... but... sometimes I sit outside to listen to him play piano."
Fujiko knew where he went, he'd taken her there but she quickly covered her surprise that he hadn't taken Yamamoto there before. "He plays well," she murmured softly. "Look. Talk to him. Tell him you can tell he's upset but you don't know why and ask what you can do to fix it I guess. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe he's just being his usual self. Or maybe he's just extra cranky because he broke his leg and hates needing help. Who knows? Talk to him."
The Rain Guardian nodded, clearly uncertain as he stared at the ground, but a moment later his grin was back, "Thanks for the advice Fujiko. I really appreciate it."
She sighed again. She recognized a mask easily enough because of how many she wore herself. "Good luck kid. Sorry I can't be of more help. If you need more I'll be around."
